NOTE FROM ANITA: This is valuable information. Please pass it on!
From Kerry K. Murphy on FaceBook:
Y'all please tell Kindra and everyone else suffering from these wounds NOT to use alcohol. Alcohol is a petroleum product and is a toxin. Instead, use a mixture of tea tree oil, witch hazel, aloe vera gel and a little honey - you can also add in some lavender essential oil which is a great healing agent and smells wonderful. I promise you'll see much quicker healing. 60% of anything placed on the skin is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, so going "native" is a must! The basics everyone should have in their medicine cabinet: tea tree oil, honey, aloe vera gel, witch hazel, clay (rhassoul, bentonite, Aztec, any variety), and lavender essential oil (lavender essential oil can also be applied directly on a 1st or 2nd degree burn - the skin instantly cools with no blistering; I'm not sure it's been tried with a third degree burn, but it certainly wouldn't hurt). The clay draws out toxins - a clay mask for acne is a wonderful healing agent, and for any other type of infected (meaning bacterial-type) wound. If the wound is really pus-filled, adding some charcoal powder (sold in the natural food stores) draws out the poison even more so.
