BP Gulf Oil Spill Fishing Waters Opened East Of Mississippi River Despite Oil Just A Few Miles Away
NEW ORLEANS — Commercial fishermen were allowed back in some Louisiana waters east of the Mississippi River today after federal authorities said samples of finfish and shrimp taken there were safe to eat.
In Mississippi, state waters north of the barrier islands were ordered opened to all commercial and recreational finfish and shrimp fishing activities that were part of the precautionary oil spill closures. The order takes effect at 6:01 p.m. today.
All commercial and recreational crab and oyster fishing will remain closed in the affected area.

Underwater Lakes Of Oil From BP Spill Will Continue To Cover Gulf Beaches With Toxic Layer Of Invisible Oil For Months
As Washington’s Blog reports BP Gulf Oil Spill Clean Up Workers are having a heard time finding crude floating on the surface because BP has used dispersants to sink the oil beneath the surface.
News headlines state that cleanup workers are having a hard time finding oil.
Sounds good, right?
Actually, if BP had let things run their course:
* Oil-skimming vessels could have sucked up most of the oil
* Booms would have stopped most of the oil from hitting the shore
* And oil-eating bacteria would have broken down most of the remaining oil
Instead, BP has used millions of gallons of dispersants to hide the oil by breaking it up, so it sinks beneath the surface.
That means that oil-skimming vessels can’t find it or suck it up.

Despite Toxic Water Samples And Confirmation Of Dead Zone Mobile Bay Alabama Reopened For Shrimping
I recently wrote about a series of water samples taken by WKRG in the Dauphin Island area of Mobile Bay AL that were found to be highly toxic.
The latest round of independent testing of Gulf Coast waters comes from a local Alabama news station WKRG 5.
Just like before the independent water samples once again contradicts the information that the EPA is giving to the public.
The tests found astoundingly high levels of oil in both the sand and water where kids were playing along the Alabama coast even though the water appeared to be clear to the naked eye.
One of the water samples actually exploded when the chemist tested for oil. The chemists said the explosion was most likely due to methane or Corexit.

BP Gulf Oil Spill Seeps Mapped In Google Earth - Feds Explanation Of Sea Floor Leaks Don't Add Up
Oil and or natural gas leaks (red and yellow columns) mapped by Thomas Jefferson, and by Gordon Gunter (purple cylinders) along with CTD stations showing high fluorescence or possible oil and gas anomalies (brown, green and white spheres). The Deepwater Horizon well site is in background (
ed cylinder) and distribution of Bottom Following Reflectors is represented by orange lines.
NOAA has said that the leaks on the sea floor graphed in the 3D model above “appear to be pre-existing seeps that occur naturally and are unrelated to the spill” and have labeled leaks as such in the Thomas Jefferson report.
But how NOAA came to determination the determination that these leaks on the sea floor are natural seeps needs to be questioned.
While the NOAA data collected by the Thomas Jefferson and The Gordon Gunter revealed a series of oil and and or natural gas leaks and was nicely presented in the 3D Model above it did very little to shed any light of where exactly the leaks were located or even how far from the BP well the leaks were.
Fast forward to today and NOAA has finally released research verifying the existence of underwater plumes of oil in the Joint Analysis Group (JAG) study of “Subsurface Oil In the Vicinity” of BP’s leaking well from May 19 to June 19, 2010.
That study contained a series of images marked with latitude and longitude as well as an over head view of the surface of the sea floor.

BP Gulf Oil Spill Fishing Waters Reopened Despite Lack Of Testing Required By Federal Protocols
As the Huffington Post points out in its post “Gulf Fisheries Opened: Safe Or BP Politics, PR and “Sock Puppetry?” the Federal Government has decided to open over 26,000 square miles of the Gulf of Mexico affected by the BP Gulf Oil Spill.
Dr. Jane Lubchenco, NOAA Administrator, announced the re-opening of a substantial portion of the southeast section of the closed fishing area in Gulf of Mexico federal waters at a press conference on Thursday. NOAA reopened 26,388 square miles of Gulf waters to commercial and recreational fishing at 6 p.m., EDT Thursday. This opening was decided upon after “consultation with the FDA and under a re-opening protocol agreed to by NOAA, the FDA, and the Gulf states,” Lubchenco said.

BP NUCLEAR OPTION Spells Mega-Disaster For Gulf Of Mexico
(PeoplesVoice) – BP NUCLEAR OPTION Spells Mega-Disaster For Gulf Of Mexico
There has been much speculation lately about a nuclear device being planned for closing in the BP Macondo Well in the Gulf of Mexico. The consequences of exercising this option go well beyond killing the Gulf of Mexico; there would be far-reaching and profound ramifications for the oceans of the world. There are many risks associated with this option that must be considered. Let’s review some of these before BP finishes the relief wells, which are allegedly being utilized for the strategic placement and detonation of a nuclear device.
DEEP OIL WELL DRILLING ALWAYS BRINGS INCREASED LEVEL OF RADIOACTIVITY
The radioactive levels of the hydrocarbon brew that has been flowing for over 90 days into the Gulf is already cause for alarm. The deeper the well, the greater the likelihood that the oil and gas effluent will have greater concentrations of radioactive components, particularly radium, thorium and uranium.

In Memoriam: Wes Skiles, Explorer, Photographer, Colleague and Friend
By John Moran
World-class explorer and image maker Wes Skiles, 52, died July 21 in a reef-diving incident in Palm Beach County, where he had been working on assignment for National Geographic.
Wes was best known for his work in educational and adventure science films and for his pioneering exploration and documentation of Forida’s springs. His death comes days before publication of his cover story on the Blue Holes of the Bahamas in the August National Geographic.
Over the past 20 years, Wes created and produced more than a dozen films for major networks including PBS and was a pioneer in the field of high definition imaging, employing innovative techniques as both an underwater and topside shooter. In addition to his acclaimed Water’s Journey series of films, he directed the IMAX film “Journey into Amazing Caves” and led a major National Geographic expedition to Antarctica to film the largest iceberg in recorded history. His primary goal was to focus public attention on the earth’s most important resource, water.

EPA Whistleblower Says Federal Government Covering Up Lethality Of Corexit And Lying About BP Gulf Oil Spill Water Samples To Save BP Billions
Democracy Now has published a shocking interview with a top EPA official, Hugh Kaufman, who tells us that NOAA and the EPA are covering up the lethal effects of the neurotoxin pesticide dispersants and lying about Gulf Oil Spill water samples to save BP billions of dollars in fines.
In the interview with Democracy Now! Hugh Kaufman, a senior policy analyst at the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, reveals some appalling details to the public.
Here are some highlights of the revelations made by Hugh Kaufman.
Well, Corexit is one of a number of dispersants, that are toxic, that are used to atomize the oil and force it down the water column so that it’s invisible to the eye.
In this case, these dispersants were used in massive quantities, almost two million gallons so far, to hide the magnitude of the spill and save BP money.
And the government—both EPA, NOAA, etc.—have been sock puppets for BP in this cover-up.
Now, by hiding the amount of spill, BP is saving hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars in fines, and so, from day one, there was tremendous economic incentive to use these dispersants to hide the magnitude of the gusher that’s been going on for almost three months.
Congressman Markey and Nadler, as well as Senator Mikulski, have been heroes in this respect.
Congressman Markey made the BP and government put a camera down there to show the public the gusher.
And when they did that, experts saw that the amount of material, oil being released, is orders of magnitudes greater than what BP and NOAA and EPA were saying. And the cover-up started to evaporate.
…
… People who work near [Corexit] are hemorrhaging internally [but the] EPA now is taking the position that they really don’t know how dangerous it is, even though if you read the label, it tells you how dangerous it is.
… for example, in the Exxon Valdez case, people who worked with dispersants, most of them are dead now.
The average death age is around fifty.
It’s very dangerous, and it’s an economic—it’s an economic protector of BP, not an environmental protector of the public.
…
We know there is a cover up.

Experts: Health Hazards in Gulf Warrant Evacuations
Thursday 22 July 2010
by: Rose Aguilar, t r u t h o u t | Report
When Louisiana residents ask marine toxicologist and community activist Riki Ott what she would do if she lived in the Gulf with children, she tells them she would leave immediately. "It's that bad. We need to start talking about who's going to pay for evacuations."
In 1989, Ott, who lives in Cordova, Alaska, experienced firsthand the devastating effects of the Exxon Valdex oil disaster. For the past two months, she's been traveling back and forth between Louisiana and Florida to gather information about what's really happening and share the lessons she learned about long-term illnesses and deaths of cleanup workers and residents. In late May, she began meeting people in the Gulf with symptoms like headaches, dizziness, sore throats, burning eyes, rashes and blisters that are do deep, they're leaving scars. People are asking, "What's happening to me?"
She says the culprit is almost two million gallons of Corexit, the dispersant BP is using to break up and hide the oil below the ocean's surface. "It's an industrial solvent. It's a degreaser. It's chewing up boat engines off-shore. It's chewing up dive gear on-shore. Of course it's chewing up people's skin. The doctors are saying the solvents are making the oil worse."
In a widely watched YouTube video, Chris Pincetich, a marine biologist and campaigner with the Sea Turtle Restoration Project, said Coast Guard planes are flying overhead at night spraying Corexit on the water and on land. "People need to realize that their water, their air, the sand they're walking on, the things they're touching when they wake up in the morning, are coated with this stuff," he said. "We are producing an experiment in the Gulf, the likes that no one has ever seen and top scientists admit that, so we're all part of the experiment."
Ott says people who are experiencing discomfort of any kind, especially children, pregnant women, cancer survivors, asthma sufferers and African-Americans because they're prone to sickle cell anemia, should wear a respirator and see a doctor that specializes in chemical poisoning immediately. She also recommends contacting the detox specialists at The Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas. "People don't have the information to know that the burning sore throat is actually chemical poisoning," she said. "And this isn't getting any attention, but it's very important. There are no vaccinations for chemical poisoning. None."

EPA Lies About BP Gulf Oil Spill Water Samples Exposed
The Federal Government has gone through great lengths to assure the public that BP Gulf Oil Spill seafood is safe even though an independent investigation into safety has raised some shocking concerns.
Even as tar balls have assaulted the Gulf coast NOAA and BP have continued to say the sea food is safe to eat and the beaches are safe to swim in.
Seeing this behavior coming from our Government raises serious questions about the whether or not Gulf waters are really safe.
To help shed some light on the subject I created an application to allowed water sampling data be easily manipulation and displayed in a manner to help make sense of all the data and by isolating the information I have made some startling revalations.
I am not the only one that is concerned with the safety of Gulf waters, even CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta has warned that despite the Government’s assurances no one can claim that Gulf seafood is safe.
NOAA has even admitted that the neurotoxin pesticide dispersant Corexit that BP is using to hide the oil from the public may have made its way into the food chain.
To make matters worse the Governments continual lies about the location of the oil coming from BP’s leaking well has done little more than slowly erode the waning trust of the public.
The Government’s actions have prompted citizen journalists to pay for independent water tests that contradicted the Government water samples.
Even a local news station ran independent tests that also contradicted the EPA’s water sampling data.
The water samples that the news station collected were so toxic that the last sample actually exploded when the lab tried to test it.

BP Oil Poisons the Gulf of Mexico's Food Chain - IPS ipsnews.net
BY DAHR JAMAIL
NEW ORLEANS, United States, Jul 20, 2010 (IPS/IFEJ) - Shellfish in the Gulf of Mexico grow with drops of petroleum inside them, coyotes eat oil-soaked birds, and sharks suffocate when the oil coats their gills.
Oil droplets have been found beneath the shells of tiny post-larval blue crabs drifting into Mississippi coastal marshes from offshore waters, says Harriet Perry, director of the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.
Many kinds of fish and shore birds feed on those young crabs. And this is just one of the many examples of how the crude oil that began to spill Apr. 20 from British Petroleum's (PB) Deepwater Horizon well has already taken its toll on the Gulf's food chain.
Jonathan Henderson, with the Gulf Restoration Network, explained to this reporter that oil-soaked birds are being eaten by coyotes, which are then later eaten by alligators further inland.

Is the EPA Playing Dumb on Dispersants?
A career whistleblower says the agency knows more than it's letting on about the risks of the oil-spill clean-up chemicals.
— By Kate Sheppard
Tue Jul. 20, 2010 3:00 AM PDT
An Environmental Protection Agency staff member is accusing his employer of being coy when it comes to dispersant use in the Gulf. Career whistleblower Hugh Kaufman says EPA officials know that the chemicals present a threat to public health and the Gulf ecosystem and should be banned; they just don't want to say so.
Kaufman, a senior policy analyst in the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, alleges that agency administrator Lisa Jackson sidestepped the issue last week in her answers to questions about whether the agency has the authority to call off use of dispersants in the Gulf. The agency, he says, is deliberately downplaying the threat—and its own role in regulating the chemicals—to protect itself from liability and keep the public from getting too alarmed.
This is far from the first time Kaufman has raised concerns about the EPA's handling of a major national disaster. In fact, he has been blowing whistles on the EPA since he began working there in 1971, just a few months after it was founded. He criticized the Carter administration's handling of hazardous waste issues, including the infamous Love Canal example in the late 1970s and is credited with spurring the formation of the Superfund program. In 1982 he went after the Reagan administration for not enforcing laws on hazardous waste and toxic chemicals as well, and helped send deputy EPA administrator Rita Lavelle to jail for perjury in 1983. The 2002 book Whistleblowing includes an entire section on Kaufman.

Despite Multiple Methane And Oil Leaks From BOP and Sea Floor Feds Allow BP To Risk Uncontrolled BP Gulf Oil Spill Blowout
As the condition of BP’s leaking oil well continues to deteriorate rapidly BP has tried desperately to prevent the Federal Government from monitoring the sea floor for oil and methane leaks.
An anonymous government official said BP is not complying with the government’s demand for more monitoring of oil and methane leaks on the sea floor. BP spokesman Mark Salt declined to comment on the allegation, but said “we continue to work very closely with all government scientists on this.”
But yesterday the Feds finally moved in with their own ships and equipment to monitor the sea floor.
The Government almost immediately found oil leaking from the sea floor along with multiple methane leaks but did not immediately inform the public of their findings.
However, it didn’t take long before an “anonymous government official” leaked the those findings to the media.
CBS Channel 12 West Palm Beach reported oil seepage and methane detected around the well.

Oil industry insider Matt Simmons blew the whistle on the made-for-TV capping of the so-called oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday, July 15, during an interview on KPFK radio, the NPR station in Los Angeles.
Simmons, former energy adviser to the second President Bush, explained that according to his reading of the data from NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, capping of the so-called riser and the subsequent announcement by U.S. President Obama was "the biggest con job we've ever seen."
Simmons, creator of an investment bank catering to oil companies, told radio host Ian Masters that the real problem continuing to gush oil into the Gulf was not the 6-inch "riser" that apparently has been capped amid much TV hoopla, but that an open hole or cauldron perhaps up to 10 miles distant from where British Petroleum's cameras are focused which continues to spew 120,000 BARRELS per day, and that BP's much publicized effort to drill relief wells in what the company says is an effort to stop the flow of oil is nothing but a cynical publicity stunt.
"The dimensions of this lie are beyond belief," said Simmons, explaining that the idea of a relief well is "tricky at best," since trying to hit a pipe of less than a foot in diameter 35,000 feet below the surface of the Gulf may be entirely futile because the casing of the original pipe is not even there, having blown away at some point.
But Simmons noted that both BP and Obama continue to deny that this open hole, or cauldron, even exists, even though Simmons and others insist the NOAA data from satellites prove by speed of flow and depth of light that the amount of oil that has been flowing through the on-camera riser could not possibly account for the amount of oil that has spilled into the Gulf.
"The riser is totally irrelevant," Simmons stressed, adding "and there's no way to cap the open hole." He explained that BP continues to deny the open hole exists and theorizes the continuing flow of oil into the Gulf is really just the residue from what has already been spilled during the first 90 days of the disaster.
"There is denial that there's even a problem," Simmons said. "In about a month or two people will realize that this actually was the biggest con job we've ever seen."
Simmons also noted an additional danger. "What the researchers now believe is that basically is that between 4000 and 4500 below the ocean floor lies an oil lake that's somewhere between 100 and 120 miles wide and it's about 4500 feet deep. It's this toxic waste and crude and it's releasing methane gases that are absolutely lethal which is why all the fish and dolphins and sharks and whales are dying. And workers too, which is why so many have gotten sick, or maybe really sick.
"The health problems are so serious," Simmons said. "When you inhale methane you just die."
The only possible solution, Simmons insists, "is a small diameter low level nuclear device. They insert it down the well 18000 feet, and set it off. It will fuse the rock and glass, and it's totally safe, three miles under the seabed."
Radio host Masters asked, "When do we get the truth?"
Simmons responded, "Basically the walls are starting to cave in on BP. There are only so many things you can make up."
"But here's the really scary thing," Simmons told the Pacifica radio audience. "If we have a storm, let alone a hurricane, what hurricanes basically do is they churn up cold water from the base of the Gulf.
This time it's not going to be cold water, it's going to be black poisonous crude. It will also shut down the 18 power plants along the Gulf Coast.
"So we're going to entrap 20 million people in harm's way."

Oceanographer John Kessler analyzes methane levels from oil spill site
http://geosciences.tamu.edu/kessler/

Preliminary results show concentrations at some points to be a million times higher than normal, researcher says John Kessler, a chemical oceanographer in the College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University, is currently analyzing methane levels in water collected from seven miles to 500 meters from the Deepwater Horizon wellhead.
Preliminary results, he says, point to high concentrations of the gas. "Methane levels ranged from 10,000 to nearly 1 million times higher in some spots than normal concentration," Kessler said.
The 10-day cruise, which was funded by a National Science Foundation Rapid Response grant, returned June 21 with nearly 1 million data points gathered. Since that time, he and his colleagues have been analyzing the results in the shore-based lab at Texas A&M.
Ramifications are multifold, Kessler said. He called the site a natural laboratory in which to better assess the effect of methane on global climate change. Naturally occurring methane seeps have been linked to rapid climate change. For instance, an event occurring 55 million years ago may have caused one of these spikes, scientists believe. So the Deepwater Horizon environmental disaster may, at least, help scientists better understand and perhaps predict methane effects on global temperatures.
Results also indicate that oxygen levels at some deepwater sites were 30 percent lower, while other sites remained unaffected. "This presents a puzzle that we cannot resolve without further research," Kessler says.

Methane background and talking points
1. Of the spilling material, 40% by weight is natural gas.
2. The main chemical component of this natural gas is methane.
3. Methane is a very potent greenhouse gas and the seafloor worldwide stores massive amounts of methane.
4. This spill is too small to influence the methane content in the atmosphere and thus will not influence modern climate.
5. Massive eruptions of natural gas from the seafloor have occurred in the geological past and this spill simulates one of those eruptions. Thus we can study this spill to understand if these previous (natural) massive eruptions in the past influenced climate and how they might behave in the future.
6. Microorganisms in the water eat natural gas and methane. This process consumes oxygen dissolved in the water. We will measure how much oxygen is being removed by natural gas and methane in the waters of the Gulf.

Initial and Tentative Findings from the PLUMES (Persistent Localized Underwater Methane Emission Study) research expedition to the oil spill area in the Gulf of Mexico, onboard the R/V Cape Hatteras from June 11-20, 2010.
A team of scientists led by Dr. John D. Kessler (Texas A&M University College Station), with significant contributions by Dr. David Valentine (University of California Santa Barbara) and Dr. Rainer Amon (Texas A&M University Galveston) are concluding a 10-day study of natural gas and oil emitted from the broken riser pipe of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. The team, funded primarily by the National Science Foundation with additional support from the Department of Energy, investigated how natural
gas and oil might contribute to emission of greenhouse gases and the depletion of oxygen in this region. They sailed upon the research vessel Cape Hatteras, owned by NSF and operated by the Duke University/University of North Carolina Marine Consortium. The team is assembling maps of surface and deepwater plumes of oil and natural gas based on their preliminary results. Several localized plumes of hydrocarbons exist in the bottom third of the ocean water, as evidenced by sensor readings and shipboard chemical
analyses. Natural gas dissolved in waters below 3000 feet depth is displaying substantial increases above background. The ramifications of these findings are the topics of their current studies and must await many additional analyses and calculations before final results are available.

Giant oil skimmer 'A Whale' deemed a bust for Gulf of Mexico spill
The massive "A Whale" oil skimmer has effectively been beached after it proved inefficient in sucking up oil from the Gulf of Mexico spill.
The oil is too dispersed to take advantage of the converted Taiwanese supertanker's enormous capacity, said Bob Grantham, a spokesman for shipowner TMT.
He said BP's use of chemical dispersants prevented A Whale, billed as the world's largest skimmer, from collecting a "significant amount" of oil during a week of testing that ended Friday.

Gulf Oil Seep: Methane, Leak Suspected Near BP's Blown Out Oil Well
NEW ORLEANS (Associated Press))- A federal official said Sunday that scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane seen near BP's busted oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.
Both could be signs there are leaks in the well that's been capped off for three days.
The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not yet been made.
The official is familiar with the spill oversight but would not clarify what is seeping near the well. The official said BP is not complying with the government's demand for more monitoring. BP spokesman Mark Salt declined to comment on the allegation, but said "we continue to work very closely with all government scientists on this."

My comment to this? BP will try to do ANYTHING to COLLECT the oil, their bottom line is the only thing considered in their decision making from what I can see!

New Oil Leak Found In BP Gulf Oil Spill BOP
At 3:26 AM EST on July 19th the underwater robot Skandi Neptune 2 recorded oil leaking from the Blowout Preventer.
Whether the leaks are from the Blowout Preventer itself or are from leaks in the wellbore down hole is still unknown
At first glance it appears the leaks were coming from hoses attached to the Blowout Preventer.
But upon further inspection the leaks seem to be coming from several places.

Three great unsolved mysteries of the BP oil spill:
1. Why are BP and the Coast Guard (which claims to be in charge) NOT catching the oil when it is out at sea and instead apparently letting it come ashore instead?
2. Why are they ignoring safe, proven methods for catching oil which would not only protect the Gulf coast but also allow the oil to be sold as a source of revenue to fund the cleanup?
3. Why are they spraying hundreds of thousands of gallons of the extremely toxic material Corexit which only "solves" the problem cosmetically while creating problems many more times severe?
You would almost think that:
1. They want the oil to be wasted and not recovered.
2. They want the oil to hit beaches and create hysteria.
3. They want to create a highly toxic environment in the spill area and beyond.
I tend to watch what people do, not what they say and I find the deliberate incompetence baffling and somewhat mysterious.

"A little child is out breathing the air and they're breathing more poison per body weight than their father or their mother." This is frightening to think about!
This interview was done for the residents and BP workers in the Gulf; what chemicals you're most likely being exposed to and what you can do to protect your children and yourself from the toxins in the air, water and beaches.
I will be posting another video on July 20th with Dr Rae the CEO of Environmental Center in Dallas Texas. He provides us with details of what's in the air and water. How to minimize exposure, the symptoms of exposure and what to do once you're experiencing signs of exposure. He also has suggestions for keeping the air in your home safe with the use of air filters.

'Urban Homesteading'? That'll Cost You
When summer gives you a motherlode of fresh fruit, the obvious solution is to make jam -- right? Not so fast, you home-cooking enthusiasts. Of course homemade jam will taste delicious, be better for you than store-bought, and allow you to appreciate summer's bounty all year long. But once you start looking for jars and other supplies, you'll soon realize that peeling and cooking the fruit is the easy (and cheap) part. It turns out that while the "slow food" movement has produced thousands of enthusiasts who want to return to the roots of old-time cookery, the equipment supply stream hasn't quite caught up yet.
Perhaps the manufacturing of these food storage supplies could end up being a cottage industry.. .

Congress Robbing $400 Million From Katrina Victims To Pay For BP Gulf Oil Spill
Years after Hurricane Katrina left a path of destruction throughout New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana much of the damage still remains.
So much damage remains that they still offer “disaster tours” to tourists wishing to see the devastation.
Restoration to almost 20,000 homes which still lie destroyed in Louisiana, with over 7,000 of those homes in New Orleans alone, was supposed to paid for by funds specifically set aside to help those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
That isn’t going to happen anymore as Mother Jones reporter Mac McClelland informs as as she shines some light on the latest act of disgrace by the Federal Government in her article titled Robbing New Orleans to Pay for BP’s Spill.
Yes, Federal Government has repeatedly assured the public over and over again that BP will pay for every dime of costs related to the oil spill.
But as we have seen throughout this crisis the Government has repeatedly told the public one thing and has done another.
The lip service has even been echoed by President Obama himself on several occasions.

Hurricane Katrina contractor prohibits near-shore employees from respirator use at work.
I inspected properties for a Katrina contractor along the coast of Mississippi from late 2009 through July 9th, 2010. I did not work directly with oil, though I was sent to work in severely oil-affected areas of Alabama. Much of my work took place on Hwy 90/Beach Blvd between Bay St. Louis and Gulfport, MS. Across the street, cleanup workers walked the shore each day, passing children in the water. Following the gulf spill, I received no contact from my company addressing field safety. I informed my supervisor of reports by experienced toxicologists detailing the deteriorating health conditions in coastal communities. I asked him why I had not heard anything from the safety department. He said I was “paranoid” and wearing respirators on the coast would cause “panic”. On Monday, July 12th, I called in sick. That afternoon, my supervisor called me to ask if I still had concerns about working on the coast. I replied, “Yes,” then asked about the availability of other work should he continue to insist I not wear a respirator under these conditions. He said he would try to find office work for me amidst layoffs. I phoned in sick again on Tuesday morning. That afternoon, a Human Resources executive called, demanding I report for a physical. I declined. That evening, I received a message from her that I was not to report to the coast. Wednesday morning, I called to find out where to report. After leaving messages with my supervisor and the HR executive, I received a call from a project manager. He informed me that my respirator concerns were “run up the chain of command” in the safety department, but that wearing one on the coast was prohibited. He told me to return to my assignment on the coast. Thursday morning, July 15th, 2010, my supervisor confirmed the company’s position that I was to immediately report to the coast for work without wearing a respirator, or resign. I verbally resigned.

NOAA Admits Toxic Corexit Dispersants May Be In BP Gulf Oil Spill Seafood
I originally wrote about an investigation into the safety of Gulf seafood that raised some shocking concerns on July 2nd.
I followed up on that with a warning from CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta who warned us that contrary to the Government’s claims no one can assure as that Gulf seafood is safe.
Today at a congressional hearing NOAA admitted that the neurotoxin pesticide Corexit that BP has used to disperse the Gulf oil spill may be in Gulf seafood and that the organization really does not care to much about testing for it.
During the hearing NOAA also admitted that unlike previously reported that the toxic dispersants bioaccumulate in the food chain.
Here is a transcript of the start of video below retrieved from Florida Oil Spill Law.

BP Paying Off Universities And Gulf Scientists In Mass To Hide Oil Spill Research Data From The Public
If the people of the Gulf have had one advocate throughout the BP Gulf Oil Spill it has been the scientific community.
They have not been afraid to step and challenge BP and The Federal Government over the existence of underwater plumes, the dangers of the dispersants BP is using, or the safety of Gulf waters.
The scientific community has sounded the alarm on skyrocketing arsenic levels in the Gulf while the Government has kept quiet and has exposed the improper BP cleanup practices that are contaminating Gulf beaches.
Scientist have come forward to reveal the real location of the oil spill, exposed the lies about oil and methane plumes, and have alerted the public to severely low-balled flow rates.
The list goes on and on.
However those days may soon becoming to an end.
A startling new report from the Alabama Register reveals BP is trying to buy up Gulf scientists and Universities in mass to prevent them from releasing research data to the public.
For the last few weeks, BP has been offering signing bonuses and lucrative pay to prominent scientists from public universities around the Gulf Coast to aid its defense against spill litigation.

RFK, Jr. Discusses Health Effects of Oil Spill
RFK, Jr and Dr. Riki Ott, this is important, ya'll!!! PLEASE FORWARD!
Federal Government Witholds Data From Scientists Citing Litigation With BP, Yet Gives BP Data Immediately
An investigative report on the Huffington Post revealed that the Federal Government’s claims that it can not release data to the public and scientists studying the impact of the the BP Gulf Oil Spill due to litigation with BP just don’t add up.
The Huffington Post has revealed that the critical data the Government says it can’t release to the public due to the litigation is actually being turned over to BP as soon as it is collected, catching the Government in an outright lie.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is hoarding vast amounts of raw data that independent marine researchers say could help both the public and scientists better understand the extent of the damage being caused by the massive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
In most cases, NOAA insists on putting the data through a ponderous, many-weeks-long vetting process before making it public.
In other cases, NOAA actually intended to keep the data secret indefinitely. But officials told the Huffington Post on Tuesday that they have now decided to release it — though when remains unclear.
BP, incidentally, gets to see all this data right away.

Pensacola Beach Before And After The Gulf Oil Spill Disaster
Sad, heartbreaking, pass it on, the world needs to know!
Who Goes to Jail? BP CEO or Shrimper
Who Goes to Jail? BP CEO or Shrimper
by Dennis Bernstein
On June 17, after watching BP's oil blowout pollute the Gulf of Mexico for nearly two months, environmental campaigner and fourth-generation Texas shrimp boat captain, Diane Wilson, had had more than enough.
So Wilson seized the only opportunity she may ever have to confront BP chief executive, Tony Hayward, eye to eye, about his "criminal activities" as top dog at the oil giant.
That day, Hayward happened to be giving testimony before the Senate Energy Committee hearings. Wilson, who works with CodePink now, had been on the road and was heading home to Seadrift, Texas, when she heard Hayward would be testifying at the Capitol. "I was coming back to Texas and I found out the CEO of BP was going to be in D.C," said Wilson, in a telephone interview. "I felt compelled to come. I had to see Hayward. I had to. And I did."
But Wilson was not merely planning to be a passive observer, sitting in awe in one of the great deliberative bodies of U.S. democracy.
"I got in and I snuck in some black paint," she said, "and I sat there and waited ‘til he started testifying and then I smeared that paint all over myself, poured it on my hands, and I stood up and told him he should be jailed. He should be jailed, I told him."
"BP is a criminal company that has ignored safety regulations at the health of our oceans and even its own workers," Wilson called out to Hayward and the members of the committee," before she was pounced on by security and hustled out of the hearing room.
"Tony Hayward and BP need to be held accountable for their criminal activities as well as paying every last cent they may have to the families in the Gulf affected by their willful, criminal neglect," she told me, after she was arraigned in federal court on charges stemming from several acts of civil disobedience. "Our message to Obama, and Congress: BP must pay to clean up this mess and our government must move to end offshore drilling and move us into a new century of clean energy."
Now the woman who has been fighting corporate polluters from the Gulf Coast of Texas to Bhopal, India, is facing two years in federal prison and will go before a jury on Aug. 20, which she notes will be "the fourth month anniversary of the oil spill.
"And that's when I'll go to trial for, can you believe, doing unlawful conduct?"
In the Heart of Seadrift
Wilson has been facing off with corporate polluters for many years around the world. Then, in 2006, she learned that she lived in the most polluted county in the United States.

Connecting the Dots: Gulf Blood for Oil, Iran Besieged, Secret Spy Games
Nearly three months on since the Deepwater Horizon exploded and sunk to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, the outlook is truly apocalyptic for the region's earthlings. A sure sign that the greedy dwarves are losing their PR campaign to reassure the world that everything is just fine came late June when BP and its government tools tightened media access to the affected areas. We will examine how the Gulf region now resembles a BP-controlled corporate police state and share with you what they are not saying about the real health impact for people and planet.
Little decision-making actually takes place when the G20 heads of state get together for their travelling roadshow, but it gives the perception managers an opportunity to introduce the latest gadgetry designed specifically for breaking down dissidents into compliant serfs. Eyewitness accounts from the people on the streets of Toronto, transformed into an Occupied Territory at a cost of $1 Bln, reveal choreographed violence by agents provocateurs and extreme police brutality 'in response'.
Wall Street's role behind the escalating bloodshed in Mexico and the decision to send 7,000 US Marines to Costa Rica tell us that the US government's War on Drugs™ is indistinguishable from its War on Terror™. Both disguise the same imperial designs and both are fuelled by the CIA's narcotics industry. As Afghanistan became America's longest war this past month, we take a look at the horrific events in Kyrgyzstan and wonder who primed the 'Russian Spy Scandal' just as US-Russian relations were "reset".
Israel once again demonstrated its unnatural ability to thrive in acrimony as it turned global condemnation for its massacre of innocents into UN Security Council support for US-imposed economic sanctions against Iran. Far from relinquishing its death grip on one siege, Israel is now a significant step closer to implementing another. Will Zionism's self-fulfilling prophecy inevitably take humanity down with it? The only thing that will save Israel from itself is a successful international campaign to boycott it at every level and shun it at every opportunity. The Universe is watching, so let's keep flapping those butterfly wings and connecting the dots!
Gulf Blood for Oil
"The Dwarves dug too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness of Khazad-dum... shadow and flame."
It is becoming increasingly difficult to get a complete picture of the magnitude of the damage to the Gulf of Mexico. We have the Government of Hope to thank for this, as a new rule was announced by the Coast Guard on the first of July - backed by the force of law and complete with the the threat of fines of up to $40,000 and Class D felony charges - preventing reporters, photographers or anyone with a pair of eyes to see and a voice to tell, from approaching within 65 feet any booms, response vessels and oil-soaked wildlife. One-third of the Gulf itself is now considered a no-go area; no one can approach it without a permit.

GULF RESIDENTS ASSAULTED BY MILITARY AND TOP TEN WANTED KILLERS
Telling the truth, thank you, Monsieur Blanchard!
It's Official: Huge Area of the Gulf Has Been Turned Into A Massive Dead Zone By The BP Gulf Oil Spill
I recently wrote an article about the millions of dead fish float ashore during a massive exodus of deep sea life to the coast to avoid the BP Gulf Oil Spill.
In that article scientists speculated that the fish were migrating to shallow waters to avoid oxygen depleted waters otherwise know as “dead zones” where no life can live.
I then called out the press for labeling the exodus of sea life as “strange” and “unusual”.
It seems that Government, and at points the media, is just as happy to mindlessly echo the massive campaign of disinformation being dished out by BP as if it were absolute fact.
That would signify that it is time to change gears and go after the press for continuing to disservice the public by publishing BP’s lip service.
The press needs to be held to standard of journalistic integrity that scolds them for publishing information released by BP without vetting that information first.
In my last post, Sea Life Flocks To Coast To Avoid The BP Gulf Oil Spill As Millions of Dead Fish Float Ashore, I did just that.
In that post the Associated Press labeled the mass exodus of deep sea life swarming to clean shallow coastal waters in order to avoid the oil, methane and toxic dispersants as both strange and unusual.
I find nothing strange or unusual about helpless sea life fleeing toxic waters in order to survive.
Now we have the the latest round of lies coming from BP.
They are denying the existence of plumes of methane that scientists are now finding all over the Gulf of Mexico in concentrations up to 10,000 times higher than normal.

Remember, to those of you that live in the Gulf or like seafood...find out where your seafood is coming from and if U don't know for sure, DON'T EAT IT. There are currently no tests being done to see if seafood has been contaminated with the dispersants. There are tests done to measure mercury levels or oil or other contaminants, but no test exists to measure dispersant levels...

Gulf toxicologist: Shrimpers exposed to Corexit "bleeding from the rectum"
CNN, July 9. 2010: Rush Transcript Excerpt Susan Shaw, Marine Toxicologist: If I can tell you what happens -- because i was in the oil -- to people... Shrimpers throwing their nets into water... [then] water from the nets splashed on his skin. ... [He experienced a] headache that lasted 3 weeks... heart palpitations... muscle spasms... bleeding from the rectum... And that's what that Corexit does, it ruptures red blood cells, causes internal bleeding, and liver and kidney damage. ... This stuff is so toxic combined... not the oil or dispersants alone. ... Very, very toxic and goes right through skin.

BP, Governments Downplay Public Health Risk From Oil and Dispersants (PHOTOS)
This is not a political party issue. This is about the American people. Our government is not in charge, BP and the other corporations are. Our government allowed for 3700 operational oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and this has been going on for decades. Our reps all took money from BIG OIL...and they were from BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE, they need to give the money back...AND it is time to VOTE THEM ALL OUT. And then take the $$$ out of campaigning and vote in citizen leadership that doesn't HAVE any money, therefore no conflict of interest. This ecocide and genocide will affect our nation and our people for years to come. Medical alerts should have been issued all along the Gulf Coast a long time ago. I was saying this same thing back at the beginning of May.

*CAUTION* CNN: Gulf seafood NOT tested for BP's Corexit or any other oil...
The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, CNN, July 8, 2010:
There's a question about dispersants... The [seafood safety] testing is for something known as aromatic hydrocarbons.
The problem is these dispersants -- which a lot of people have talked about Wolf -- there's no specific testing for those.
So its a little bit hard to know whether or not the testing ultimately is going to provide some guarantee of safety with regard to that.

Ecological Holocaust
HOLOCAUST
The term is accurate in this context.
Holocaust = murder on a mass scale.
Future videos will show exactly how appropriate this term is, but in short, not only has BP unleashed an uncontainable disaster of geologic proportions, it's also spraying tons of a highly toxic substance - coexit - at night, against the "request" of the EPA, not to contain the oil, but to mask the scale and scope of the disaster.
This is not only creating a ecological catastrophe of unprecedented proportions, it will sicken and kill thousands, possibly millions, of people, contaminate drinking water, and damage crops and agricultural land.
And make no mistake, this catastrophe is a major bonanza for the Oil Industrial Complex.
This includes pharmaceutical companies (more chronically sick people), agri-business (higher crop prices), and makers of genetically modified crops (watch for coexit-reistant seeds.)
This is not to mention all the interlocking oil companies which will: a) pick up BP's assets when it goes bankrupt (defaulting on its liabilities) and b) be able to pollute on a massive scale without so much as raising an eye brow.
After all, BP has set the bar on destruction so high that every other atrocity will seem trivial in comparison.

BP Gulf Oil Spill Exposure to Toxic Chemicals- Human Health Risks
Dr. Larry Lowry of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler shares his thoughts on these important issues. What are the chemicals found in the oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico? What are some of a the dangers to children? What are the long-term effects of exposure to the oil, it's vapors, or the dispersants?

Scientists Sound Alarm As Arsenic Levels Rise In Seawater Around The BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
The toxic effects of oil are pretty well known and I have warned about the effects of the neurotoxin pesticide, Corexit, that BP has been using to hide the Gulf oil spill from the public and have further reinforced those warnings here.
Scientists are now raising the alarm about yet another threat to the sea life and in fact the entire food chain in the Gulf of Mexico from the BP Gulf Oil Spill, the threat of arsenic.
On arsenic news.com.au reports:
* Scientists warn of rising arsenic levels
* News further adds to BP’s clean up woes
* Energy firm hit by rising clean up costs
BELEAGUERED energy giant BP was hit with further bad news this morning as it emerged dangerous arsenic levels have been found in seawater around the Gulf of Mexico.
British scientists warned that the oil spill is increasing the level of arsenic in the ocean, and could further add to the devastating impact on the already sensitive environment.
BP’s Deepwater Horizon rig has been spilling between 3,681,500 litres and 911,454,000 litres of oil into the sea per day since it exploded on April 22.
The spill is already being labeled as America’s worst environmental disaster and has turned into a economic and PR nightmare for the British company.

Independent Water Samples Of The BP Gulf Oil Spill Contradict EPA Samples And Found To Be Highly Toxic
Oil/Water samples from Gulf…VERY TOXIC
Documentary film maker James Fox retrieved water samples from the BP Gulf Oil Spill and sent those water samples to a lab for independent analysis.
The analysis of the independent water samples of the BP Gulf Oil Spill showed that the concentration of the toxic chemical found in the water samples was over 150 times the lethal dosage for fish.
Furthermore the chemical that was detected at such high concentrations is only a minor ingredient of the neurotoxin pesticide.
That means that the level of Corexit in the water must be much higher.
According to the lab scientist who analyzed the water samples that indicates that the level of Corexit in the water is so astronomically high that in in fact poses a direct threat to human life.

Government Takeover Of Official BP Gulf Oil Spill Website Data Will Disappear And Links Will Break
In case you have not read it yet the official BP Gulf Oil Spill website, deepwaterhorizonresponse.com, will soon be taken over by the Federal Government and will be moved from it’s current “.com” domain to a new “.gov” domain.
While normally I would welcome an announcement that the Federal Government is stepping up to take over more control of the BP Gulf Oil Spill this move seems to scream of a smoke and mirrors stunt.
Moving an entire web site to a new domain in the middle of a crisis seems to lack any sense of logic because millions of links to web pages and documents on the site will likely become broken.
Simply put the move lacks an sense of logic unless of course the Federal Government is looking for a way to make the information on the site disappear with raising to many eyebrows.
Seriously this is bad news for those of us trying to document the ongoing cover up that continues to unfold during the BP Gulf Oil Spill.
Call me a conspiracy theorists of a “tin foil hatter” all that you want but think about it.
I must have dozens of links to “official documentation” that is on the site and by now there must be hundreds of millions of web pages on the Internet with similar links.
You can be rest assured that when the Federal Government takes over the site and moves it to a the new “.gov” domain every single one of those links will break.
Furthermore some of those the documents on the site will undoubtedly disappear altogether .
Then there is the problem of links in the content and documents on the website itself that will break as they will point to the old deepwaterhorizonresponse.com website.
Shortened links using third party link shorteners for sites like Twitter and Facebook will also become broken.
Still not convinced this is smoke and mirrors?
I thought to myself, let me make a web crawler to download the entire website before its gone.
But I soon ran into a problem. The Deepwater Horizon Response web site does not just host the official BP Gulf Oil Spill response website but it also hosts dozens of other Government web sites as well.
Try this. Go to Google.com and enter the search phrase “site:http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/”, without the quotes.

Government Takeover Of Official BP Gulf Oil Spill Website Data Will Disappear And Links Will Break
