Another Dead Dolphin

Dead_rissos_dolphin_22512
A Risso's Dolphin (Grampus griseus) was found deceased by Park Service agents at Gulf Islands Seashores Park - Santa Rosa Isle (Opal Beach) last night. This is a relatively rare species in our area, although relatively common in the deep Gulf. The animal, estimated at a few months old, appeared thin. Official cause of death will not be determined until a necropsy is performed and all toxicology results come back.
