WISE WOMEN MEDIA FOR 2/8/13--Educator, Potter and Sustainable Living Activist, Denise Der Garabedian

Denise

Our special guest tonight is Denise DerGarabedian, MA, educator, artist and now sustainable living activist and living her dream in the wild mountains of North Carolina. Anyone can live sustainably, Denise will tell us how!

Denise's Bio:

Denise Der Garabedian, M.A., lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina , leaving her home in Florida where she lived for over 40 years, to start living her dream in rural America. She retired early from her career in education to pursue pottery, a passion she developed soon after taking a class at a local recreation center.

Nowadays, Denise spends her time gardening, including experimenting with permaculture, creating pottery, making bread, learning about foraging, and learning the medicinal uses of herbs and plants that grow in her area. She is determined to live a more sustainable life, embrace alternative health, and rescue the dogs that end up on her doorstep. Creating beautiful, functional pottery is her creative outlet and a beloved activity that sustains her spirit.

"I love being out in the woods, far from the crowded city, she says. I can actually see the stars at night in magnificent brilliance. This is where I was meant to be."
