Dr. Michael Robichaux Speaks About Growing Health Concerns In The Wake Of BP Oil Disaster (VIDEO)

Last week at the Baton Rouge Press Club Dr. Michael Robicheaux spoke in-depth about the large number of sick people that he has been treating since the BP oil disaster occurred. The sick include workers who worked on the response to the disaster as well as divers, fishermen and coastal residents.

Since the BP disaster began we have been receiving an unsettling number of calls from people dealing with unusual health problems. Dr. Robicheaux is an old friend and ally and we feel extremely grateful that he has enthusiastically stepped forward to help these sick Gulf Coast citizens who have had difficulties finding help elsewhere.

We encourage you to watch the video of Dr. Robicheaux's speech about what seems to be a growing health crisis in our Gulf Coast communities.

Leuren Moret - Japan nuclear war targets US Canada Mexico and Hawaii

Independent scientist Leuren Moret in an exclusive March 27, 2011 interview with Alfred Lambremont Webre has stated that the west coasts of the United States and Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii are being intentionally targeted by dangerous radiation from the March 11, 2011 tectonic warfare earthquake and nuclear meltdown events at Fukushima, Japan.

The west coasts of the United States and Canada, and Mexico, Ms. Moret indicated, are the major food producing areas for North America. Radiation from the Japan quake/nuclear meltdown events at Fukushima is intentionally being steered into these areas in order to dose the land and the food with radiation.

The ultimate purpose of this nuclear war is to attack the health and genome of the North American the population is attacked with radiation, to depopulate North America, and to make future humans less healthy and less resistant to takeover by a global new world order.

Investigation Of Dolphin Deaths In Gulf Kept Confidential By U.S. Government

Dolphin Deaths Gulf Investigation
Posted: 03/25/11 10:52 AM
BILOXI, Mississippi -- The U.S. government is keeping a tight lid on its probe into scores of unexplained dolphin deaths along the Gulf Coast, possibly connected to last year's BP oil spill, causing tension with some independent marine scientists.
Wildlife biologists contracted by the National Marine Fisheries Service to document spikes in dolphin mortality and to collect specimens and tissue samples for the agency were quietly ordered late last month to keep their findings confidential.
The gag order was contained in an agency letter informing outside scientists that its review of the dolphin die-off, classified as an "unusual mortality event (UME)," had been folded into a federal criminal investigation launched last summer into the oil spill.
"Because of the seriousness of the legal case, no data or findings may be released, presented or discussed outside the UME investigative team without prior approval," the letter, obtained by Reuters, stated.
A number of scientists said they have been personally rebuked by federal officials for "speaking out of turn" to the media about efforts to determine the cause of some 200 dolphin deaths this year, and about 90 others last year, in the Gulf.
Moreover, they said collected samples and specimens are being turned over to the government for analysis under a protocol that will leave independent scientists in the dark about the efficacy and outcome of any laboratory tests.

The man in charge of paying oil spill claims is now getting $1.25 million a month from BP.

PASCAGOULA, Miss - Documents provided by the administrator of BP's claims fund for Gulf oil spill victims show the oil giant agreed to increase his law firm's monthly compensation from $850,000 to $1.25 million.

Last week, Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange accused Feinberg of dragging his feet until victims are so desperate they will settle for anything. Feinberg called those claims unfounded.

Louisiana doctor suspects patients' ill health caused by spill

Chris Miller Reporting
Blindness, nosebleeds, bleeding ears, memory loss.  Is this what's happening to people exposed to leaking radiation in Japan?  No, it's the symptoms a Louisiana doctor says his patients are dealing with more and more since the BP oil spill.
Dr. Mike Robichaux, an ear, nose and throat specialist and a former state senator, has shared his information with the Louisiana Environmental Action Network.  LEAN director Marylee Orr says it's compelling.
"We are gathering evidence that I don't believe you can dismiss," Orr told members of the news media.  "You may wonder about it, but you're going to find that all these folks have very high levels of the ten chemicals that we're testing for."
Dr. Robichaux says chemicals found in oil dispersants can have nasty effects on the human body.
"Ethylene glycol is antifreeze.  Methanol is wood alcohol," Dr. Robichaux said.  "10 ccs blinds you, 30 ccs kills you."
Dr. Robichaux says one spill cleanup worker lost his sight, and other patients have had trouble with their memory.
"People out here are losing their memories.  They're having headaches and losing their memory," he said.  "This is happening to hundreds and hundreds of people."

So what really happened with Hurricane Andrew and the Known Damages at the Turkey Point Nuclear Reactor Near Miami?

Whmpwr01a
NEWSPAPER ARTICLE:
From the MIAMI HERALD/Tom Dubouq, September 5, 1992:
"Demolition crews toppled a 400 foot smokestack at Turkey Point [nuclear] power plant [owned by Florida Power and Light Company] Friday, September 4, 1992. The stack, which had a 200 foot gaping crack, was dropped without a hitch, a Florida Power and Light spokesperson said. The other smokestack at the plant will be salvaged. Turkey Point will be shut down for several months while repairs are made. The cost will exceed 90 million [dollars] according to an initial damage report… When Turkey Point was built in the 1960's, its main structures were designed to withstand 235 mph winds. Hurricane Andrew was clocked at 164 mph at the plant. Florida Power and Light officials don't know why the smokestack didn't hold up."
MY COMMENTS:
The smokestack did not hold up because Hurricane Andrew had much stronger winds that originally estimated.
Hurricane Andrew was reassessed and upgraded to a CAT 5 years later.
This is the info on the upgrade of Hurricane Andrew.
http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/hurdat/andrew.html
Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale for Category 5:
Category Five Hurricane (Sustained winds greater than 155 mph, greater than 135 kt, or greater than 249 km/hr).
Catastrophic damage will occur
People, livestock, and pets are at very high risk of injury or death from flying or falling debris, even if indoors in mobile homes or framed homes. Almost complete destruction of all mobile homes will occur, regardless of age or construction. A high percentage of frame homes will be destroyed, with total roof failure and wall collapse. Extensive damage to roof covers, windows, and doors will occur. Large amounts of windborne debris will be lofted into the air. Windborne debris damage will occur to nearly all unprotected windows and many protected windows. Significant damage to wood roof commercial buildings will occur due to loss of roof sheathing. Complete collapse of many older metal buildings can occur. Most unreinforced masonry walls will fail which can lead to the collapse of the buildings. A high percentage of industrial buildings and low-rise apartment buildings will be destroyed. Nearly all windows will be blown out of high-rise buildings resulting in falling glass, which will pose a threat for days to weeks after the storm. Nearly all commercial signage, fences, and canopies will be destroyed. Nearly all trees will be snapped or uprooted and power poles downed. Fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas. Power outages will last for weeks to possibly months. Long-term water shortages will increase human suffering. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months. Hurricane Andrew (1992) is an example of a hurricane that brought Category 5 winds and impacts to coastal portions of Cutler Ridge, Florida with Category 4 conditions experienced elsewhere in south Miami-Dade County.

Scientist Leuren Moret - Japan earthquake and nuclear "accident" are tectonic nuclear warfare

Independent scientist Leuren Moret, whose 2004 landmark article in the Japan Times unmasked lies and distortions by government and company officials that led to the construction of nuclear power plants in seismically dangerous areas, has declared in an exclusive 65-minute video interview with Alfred Lambremont Webre that the "Japan earthquake and "accidents" at the Fukushima's 6 nuclear power plant units starting March 11, 2011 are in fact deliberate acts of tectonic nuclear warfare, carried out against the populations ecology of Japan and the nations of the Northern Hemisphere, including the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

BREAKING NEWS: 100-Mile Long Oil Slick Spotted Off Louisiana Coast

  • March 19, 2011 6:08 pm

A large oil slick – 12-miles wide by 100-miles long – has been spotted off Grand Isle, Louisiana, and New Orleans photographer Jerry Moran is filing aerial photos.

The environmental writer and frequent Huffington Post contributor Jerry Cope has confirmed the approximate size of the slick and says that skimming operations have been under way for at least 24 hours now. The suspected source is the Matterhorn Mc243 facility only about 25 miles from where BP’s Macondo well spewed more than 200 million gallons of crude into the Gulf last year.

There are already allegations that the Coast Guard and other authorities are busy trying to cover up the spill, so stay tuned.

Oil Spill Reported Near Deepwater Drilling Site in Gulf

Rocky Kistner

Media associate, NRDC
Posted: March 19, 2011 05:18 PM

The Coast Guard is investigating reports of a potentially large oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico not far from the Deepwater Horizon site. According to a knowledgeable source, the slick was sighted by a helicopter pilot on Friday and is about 100 miles long. A fishing boat captain said he went through the slick yesterday and it was strong enough to make his eyes burn.

According to the Times Picayune, the Coast Guard has confirmed they are investigating a potentially large 100 mile slick about 30 miles offshore. They are going to a site near the Matterhorn well site about 20 miles north of the BP Deepwater Horizon site, according to the paper. The Matterhorn field includes includes a deepwater drilling platform owned by W&T Technology. It was acquired last year from TotalFinaElf E&P.

Independent pilots are attempting to reach the slick today. Bonnie Schumaker with Wings of Care reported she saw a slick two days ago and is attempting to reach the site.

WEAR ABC 3 :: Top Stories - Underwater Tarmats in Pensacola

Media_httpwwwweartvco_ofwip
PENSACOLA BEACH - BP won't announce until next week what they plan to do about several underwater tarmats off Escambia County Beaches. According to a federal government map, There are still 11 tarmats just a few yards off shore. Across the line in Alabama, a BP contractor is scooping up the mats. But in Florida only one mat has been removed… it was on Perdido Key in front of the Eden Condominiums. And there is no known plan to clean up the rest. Channel Three's Dan Thomas is at Pensacola Beach with more on what people there would like to see done… Dan? Let me just show you where we are… this is Aveneda 13… and looking at that map you just showed there the only two tarmats on Pensacola Beach are located directly south of here. The spring breakers we talked to today, didn't need a map. They've had no problem finding the oil. For these spring breakers from Missouri first noticed something odd when they were looking for souvenirs. Giana Calbello/Spring Breaker: "A tiny bit got on my hand and I wipe on my towel." Mary Lillis/Spring Breaker: "We were fishing with nets for shells, we call it shelling and it was just brown, I thought it was shark poop at first." But the mystery brown stuff didn't wash off easily… Ryan Funk/Spring Breaker: "Basically when I first saw it in the sand I thought it was a rock." But after Ryan Funk of Pace got a closer look, he realized it was oil. Ryan Funk/Spring Breaker: "It kind of did surprise me with all the efforts I thought BP was making to clean up but obviously as you can see, there's still so much to do." But BP won't be doing it anytime soon. Their experts in New Orleans couldn't speak to these specific tarmats but said there are often challenges to getting the right equipment in place. So far, they've cleaned up one mat in Perdido Key and say they're not sure when or if they'll clean up anymore. In the meantime, they'll continue observe the mats… waiting for the rough surf to break them up… and then pickup the resulting tarballs once they've washed ashore. Ryan Funk/Spring Breaker: "Personally I think they should go out there right now and clean it up because if they wait for it to break up, it's just going to make more of a mess. It will get on more shells and more sand.">> BP will release what they call a strategic plan next week. We're told that will shed more light on what they plan to do with the tarmats under the water. Could illnesses be linked to BP oil spill?

By ERIC BESSON

It contains chemicals that are known to be toxic to animals. It was released in copious amounts. It leaves a foam footprint. It is banned in the United Kingdom. And most importantly from BP's perspective, it sank the slick.

It is Corexit, and more than 1.8 million gallons of the chemical dispersant were used to combat the estimated 150 million gallons of oil that gushed from the Macondo Prospect well after the fatal Deepwater Horizon explosion.

Nalco Holding Company, a Naperville, Ill., chemical company that typically focuses on treating and processing water that comes with the production of crude oil, manufactures the oil slick dispersant.

As a stand-alone chemical, its purpose is to break down the volume of crude oil patches into "discrete droplets" that sink beneath the surface and are presented as food for the oft-hailed microbial bacteria to ingest.

Scientists have disputed this and said Corexit has instead laced the oil with toxins that microbes will not eat, dragged and trapped it throughout the Gulf's water columns and inflicted damage to the ecosystem.

In response to the oil spill, BP initially sprayed two versions of Corexit. The first version, Corexit 9527A, was also used in response to the 111-million-gallon Exxon-Valdeez spill in 1989. It contains 2-butoxyethanol, a hazardous substance that "may be toxic to blood, liver, kidneys, central nervous system," according to its material safety data sheet.

Exxon produced Corexit 9527 and introduced it in 1972 as the first "self-mix concentrate" and the first aircraft-applied dispersant, according to "History of Dispersant Development: A Dispersant Timeline," penned by an investigating officer and pollution investigator with the Coast Guard and published in 2005.

The Deepwater Horizon Joint Information Center (JIC) did not respond to an e-mailed list of questions asking for the date each version of the dispersant was stopped, whether or not there is any chance the dispersant is still being applied in the Gulf and the official total for the amount of Corexit dispersed during the spill response.

The JIC has said in the past that the spraying of Corexit 9500A - the second and reportedly more voluminous dispersant used in the response efforts - was halted on July 19, 2010.

Some of Corexit's critics charge an incestuous relationship between Nalco and big oil companies as a potential reason the dispersant was given exclusive clean-up duties, pointing out that both Exxon and BP have former executives who serve on Nalco's board of directors.

Rodney F. Chase, who was group chief executive and managing director of BP from 1992 to 2003, currently serves as the chairman of Nalco's Audit Committee.

Daniel S. Sanders, who retired in 2004 as president of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, is chairman of Nalco's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

The Environmental Protection Agency presented BP with a list of seven alternative dispersants to Corexit 9500A in May of last year, but the company opted to stay with Corexit.

According to toxicity tests of the eight dispersants on standard Gulf of Mexico test species, the mysid shrimp and silverside fish, none of the dispersants tested - including Corexit 9500 A - "displayed biologically significant endocrine disrupting activity," Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson said in her July 15, 2010, testimony before Congress.

The results are available on the EPA website.

Jackson also said in her testimony that response tools on the National Contingency Plan (NCP) Product Schedule are available for deployment by Federal On-Scene Coordinators, who are provided by the Coast Guard.

"If the application of a product is pre-authorized by the [Regional Response Team], then the [Federal On-Scene Coordinator] may decide to use the product in a particular response," Jackson said in the testimony. "If the product application does not have pre-authorization from the RRT, then the FOSC must obtain concurrence from the EPA representative and the representatives of states with jurisdiction over the navigable waters under threat."

Steven Pedigo is the chairman and CEO of Oil Spill Eater International and the inventor of Oil Spill Eater II (OSE II), a product he claims to be a superior cleaning agent that uses bioremediation of oil into CO2 and water rather than dispersing it.

Pedigo said it is the pre-authorization process that has thus far prevented his product from being applied the spill response. "There are a lot of products on the NCP list; none of them got used on this spill, and the reason is they weren't pre-approved," Pedigo said. "But the federal government would not allow anything to be pre-approved but Exxon's product Corexit."

Gulf spill sickness wrecking lives by Dahr Jamail

Nearly a year after the oil disaster began, Gulf Coast residents are sick, and dying from BP's toxic chemicals.
 Last Modified: 09 Mar 2011 15:42 GMT

National and State Parks along the Gulf Coast have posted health warnings along the coast [Erika Blumenfeld/AJE]
"I have critically high levels of chemicals in my body," 33-year-old Steven Aguinaga of Hazlehurst, Mississippi told Al Jazeera. "Yesterday I went to see another doctor to get my blood test results and the nurse said she didn't know how I even got there."
Aguinaga and his close friend Merrick Vallian went swimming at Fort Walton Beach, Florida, in July 2010. "I swam underwater, then found I had orange slick stuff all over me," Aguinaga said. "At that time I had no knowledge of what dispersants were, but within a few hours, we were drained of energy and not feeling good. I've been extremely sick ever since."
BP's oil disaster last summer gushed at least 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico,
causing the largest accidental marine oil spill in history - and the largest environmental disaster in US history. Compounding the problem, BP has admitted to using at least 1.9 million gallons toxic dispersants, including one chemical that has been banned in the UK.
According to chemist Bob Naman, these chemicals create an even more toxic substance when mixed with crude oil. Naman, who works at the Analytical Chemical Testing Lab in Mobile, Alabama, has been carrying out studies to search for the chemical markers of the dispersants BP used to both sink and break up its oil. Poly-aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from this toxic mix are making people sick, Naman said. PAHs contain compounds that have been identified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic. "The dispersants are being added to the water and are causing chemical compounds to become water soluble, which is then given off into the air, so it is coming down as rain, in addition to being in the water and beaches of these areas of the Gulf," Naman told Al Jazeera. "I'm scared of what I'm finding. These cyclic compounds intermingle with the Corexit [dispersants] and generate other cyclic compounds that aren't good. Many have double bonds, and many are on
the EPA's danger list. This is an unprecedented environmental catastrophe."

NASA Data Strengthens Reports of Toxic Rain on the Gulf Coast From BP Spill by Jerry Cope

Along the Gulf Coast, the marketing blitz for spring break is rolling out as the oil from the BP blowout 11 months ago continues to roll in along with increasing numbers of dead infant dolphins, in numbers completely without precedent. The beaches remain polluted with toxic oil and dispersant even as local politicians and government officials insist everything is fine and the oil miraculously gone. Thousands of pounds are collected each day from the few areas that remain under scrutiny, all of those being in highly visible resort areas. In one zone on Ft. Morgan beach in Alabama, a record 17,000 lbs was collected in one day after a winter storm rolled through. Along the beaches of Alabama in areas not frequented by media or guests, dead infant dolphins are left uncollected in the sand. Current plans by mayors of resort communities along the Gulf Coast will have thousands of vacationers, including at-risk populations, once again making sandcastles and sunbathing on toxic, polluted beaches.

BP continues to shut down the few cleanup efforts still underway with the approval of the federal government. At the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force meeting in New Orleans recently, scientists, NGO's, and concerned citizens demanded to know how the ecosystem could be restored when the basic cleanup of the oil has been made impossible by any known technology after the dispersant sank it to the ocean floor. Health concerns remained at the forefront of dialogue as a new report by the Louisiana Bucket Brigade finds that nearly 50 percent of the population along the Gulf Coast is experiencing sickness indicative of chemical poisoning related to the BP oil spill. The CDC assertions in a brochure distributed at the meeting that the levels of chemical exposure related to the spill are not a cause for concern was ridiculed and an embarrassment to many of the officials present.

Government data collected during the oil spill last summer, which is now being released by one of the scientists on the NASA team, strengthens claims that oil and dispersant was brought onshore in rain during the spill. The Chief Mission Coordinating Scientist on the NASA remote sensing mission to the BP oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico was
Ira Leifer, Ph.D from University of California Santa Barbara. Dr. Leifer has been working with natural oil spills and natural methane bubble flows for the last decade. He is in the process of releasing some of the government data collected during the spill; the vast majority of this data has been suppressed and is not available to scientists, the media, or the general public. The data was collected on boats at the sea surface, in airplanes over the Gulf, and by satellite.

JOIN US--Walking to DC - PLEASE READ, SHARE and ACT! by Cherri Foytlin

Picture-461
I had wanted to save this announcement until March 12, but I cannot.

As you know, on March 12, in Westwego,  LA at the Farmers Market we will be hosting an event in which we hope to honor those who have been working in the Gulf on behalf of the people and environment, with booths available for people to obtain information and get help with needs surrounding the spill and to join in fellowship surrounding some great music. You will find the link to that event here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=103042516441587

What I have not mentioned yet, is that the next morning - Sunday, I and several others will begin a long walk to Washington D.C. to raise awareness of issues still pertaining to the BP Oil Catastrophe and to build a movement across the nation for real environmental justice for the people of the Gulf, and our country.

Our goals for this pilgrimage include:

- To rally support, through public pressure, for the sponsorship of  a healthcare bill for the people on the coast - over 11,000 according to LEAN, who are silently suffering the effects from the spill - including not only comprehensive testing, but diagnosis and long term treatment.

- To raise awareness of the ongoing issues in the Gulf, the least of which is that - this place is a mess and that the American public is being lied to.

- To share and join the fight with the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people suffering from man made disasters and environmental injustices across our nation to the truth that “Clean Water and Clean Air are God given - and that anything less is a human rights violation“.

- To share and join the fight with American workers who have been misplaced or lost their jobs through no fault of their own, for the profit of some.

- To bring THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and any righteous congressional leaders to the Gulf to meet with the people affected and to join us for the memorial events of April 20.

- To demand that a congressional hearing be held for the citizens of the Gulf Coast and that their needs be met in a timely and transparent fashion.

- To demand that the GCCF  be investigated, and that the fishermen of the Gulf, and others who rely on her, be put in charge of the $20 billion dollar fund.

 - That a real investment be made in bringing green energy to our coast and that our energy providers (oil workers), be trained and accepted to those jobs first.

 - That an investment using penalties from the Clean Water Act, as encouraged in the Oil Spill Commission report, be made in the Gulf and that our fishermen (recreational and commercial) be trained and given those opportunities first.

- An end to the use of all dispersants in our national and state waters.

- The enactment and funding by the oil industry for a Gulf Coast Citizens Advisory Council.

- Independent data, research and testing of all waters, beaches and marshes along the coast. And an open transparent process through those scientists, as well as those funded by funds from BP.

- Opening of any and all medical research from the Exxon Valdez Catastrophe.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST MORE.

My friends, I am asking you to help me in this endeavor.

We already have media poised to cover this event, national, local and international. We will need more.

I invite you to walk with us when you can - it will take 31 days to get there walking 26-40 miles in a single day. We have 2 stops everyday, that we are getting lined up to speak at to raise awareness and bring others into the fold. And every night we hope to have a concert, to raise funds and awareness in order to provide aid for the people, wildlife and environment of the Gulf Coast.

I want you to be aware that there will be people who say that this cannot be done. There will always be those who would say that this, and anything as hopeful as this, is a fool’s mission.  Let them, and walk your walk.

There are those who will say we are seeking the spotlight, fame and nothing more. Yet, they do not know our heart. Walk your walk.

Some might say that nothing will come of it - that nothing will change. They said the same thing to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr and to Ghandi. Walk your walk.

There are two types of people in this world, those that encourage others and raise them up in love to do more, be more, have more, and those who would seek to control and discourage others to be more than THEY are - I am asking those who belong in that first category to ignore the other group, and just WALK YOUR WALK.

We are in need of many things, and I am asking you today, to join me in not only the “Walk To D.C - Walk the Walk”, but in a nation wide movement for our future.

Truth is: You are going to die. We all are.

The question is: What will you say on your death bed?

Will you be able to say, “Once, I was a part of something bigger than myself. I stood, for my people across the nation. I took the gifts that You gave me, and I used every single ounce of them in Your name in protection of Your children. “

It is our time. It is our country. It is our Gulf. And they will know we came, and they will remember who we are.

Please help me, we are in need of funds for travel expenses - any left over will go directly into helping the people of the Gulf Coast to not only survive, but thrive; and to send a citizen delegation to D.C. for meetings with congressional leaders concerning our needs.

Please go here to make a donation, $5, $1, $100, it does not matter - any amount will help us get that much farther to D.C. http://www.projectgulfimpact.org/  A fund has graciously been set up through Project Gulf Impact for the walk, please note that this tax deductible donation is to be used for the “Walk to D.C.”.

Please message me your phone number and email, and how you can help, specifically what are would be nice, we will need people on the following committees:
- Helping to plan April 20 events
- To contact the media in promotion of the events from March 12 to April 20
- To launch a massive assault on all BP propaganda from March 12 to April 20
- To set up speaking engagements and concerts along the route to D.C.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION from November 7, 2010
Lisa Nelson of Orange Beach, AL is one of a growing number of people sickened and dying as a result of the BP disaster. Local physicians have no idea how to diagnose or treat patients who have bee exposed to highly toxic crude/dispersant combination. Local, State, and federal agencies continue to cover-up and offer zero assistance.

FROM JERRY COPE:
I am so furious! Lisa died today. I am so sad. I went on my Youtube to add an annotation of her death to her video and I am furious! When you play the video a f*%$king BP ad comes up at the bottom - on my video!
Doubt if anything can be done but this is an insult!

Landfill Mess in HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY is Possibly Leaking into Our Aquifer and Affecting Tampa's Drinking Water

The latest news I can find and recent correspondence from a constituent:

***The utility company just sent this in their newsletter.
I hadn't heard a word about it.

If the liner is punctured, contaminates from the dump could leak into the Florida Aquifer where some people get their drinking water. Authorities said on Wednesday, it is too early to tell.

"We don't know at this time if there has been a breach in the bottom liner," said Patricia Berry with Solid Waste Management.

Experts watching sinkhole in Hillsborough landfill
STORY HERE:
Lithia, Florida -- A sinkhole that opened up under a Bay area landfill has county authorities on edge.
In the nearly 30 year history of Hillsborough County's Southeast County Landfill in Lithia, a sinkhole has never formed.
But that is exactly what authorities believe caused the ground to give in on Tuesday afternoon.
Workers discovered the initial depression on Tuesday. At that time, it was only five feet deep. Within 24 hours, it dropped 45 feet.
Now, the sinkhole is 75 feet wide and 50 feet deep and still growing.
Landfill supervisor, Larry Ruiz had been surveying the initial depression when the ground gave way, sinking more than 40 feet of waste into the earth.
"The cracks you see around the perimeter, they started getting wider and as they got wider, right in the middle, it just started going down and a lot of smoke came out of the middle," said Ruiz who says he immediately ran away from the hole.
When he had a moment to think, Ruiz says his first thought was about the landfill's liner. "I was worried about any damage to the liner system."

"We don't know at this time if there has been a breach in the bottom liner," said Patricia Berry with Solid Waste Management.
Berry says management acted quickly on water quality controls.
"We do have a system of groundwater monitoring wells as part of our operation of this facility. We have analysis on those wells and we will be stepping up our monitoring program," said Berry.
As solid waste workers scramble to save the situation, cracks are widening around the already huge hole.
The DEP is supposed to survey the scene on Thursday. That agency along with SWFMUD will help county authorities execute an action plan.
Solid Waste Management says this has no impact on trash removal.
The Southeast County Landfill is located on 3,300 acres at 15960 County Road 672 in Lithia. The sinkhole is in an area of the original landfill that opened in 1984.
The area contains a mix of municipal solid waste and ash from the County's Resource Recovery Facility.

***************
I, Anita have the following questions:
Why is the local government permitted to supervise and conduct the testing?
Why are independent entities not doing the testing?
Just what are the damages?
Shouldn't citizens of Hillsborough be provided with the labs and the analysis conducted from these labs?
There are severe water problems all over the county, are all of these issues related? Why or why not?

ARE THERE ANY INDEPENDENT CHEMISTS OUT THERE WHO WOULD CARE TO ASSIST ME IN TAKING SAMPLES THROUGHOUT TAMPA SO WE CAN ASSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR DRINKING WATER?

Please email me at anitasoilandwater@gmail.com or call 813.527.1293 and be sure to leave a message if I do not answer.
